i'm no glass man but I have used the following method. Buy a spool of thicker weedeater string and cut what you need to fit down in the rubber all the way around leaving a 1' overhang on each side. with 2 people ,start the rubber onto the top anywhere near the ends of string . you should be on the inside.and the helper pushing in from the outside. start pulling on one side and it should start to pull the rubber lip inside of the top. work around slowly and rubber lube helps.DAVE
