Dang it. I didn't even think about a different starter. Of course it's a different starter. This motor came out of a 4 speed truck and the starter was bolted to the bell housing. I'm bolting it to an automatic, so the starter now has to be bolted to the block. That solves the mystery of why my old one don't fit. I'll just have to keep my eye out junkyardin' and maybe one will turn up. I'm not going to worry about it 'till then.
