I did the same method with a nylon rope for my rear window on my truck. I placed the rubber gasket over the window metal edge and then placed the rope inside the split edge where the fiberglass would be going in. The rope acts as a spacer to hold the gasket open and able to fit the gasket over the inner fiberglass. Once you have the glass centered where it needs to be have the person holding the glass not move it. The person inside will then slowoly pull the rope out and help the gasket onto the inside of the cab. It also help to have few different widths of flat screrwdrivers and putty knives to help pry it over as well like you would on a bicycle tire.
