well i would have thrown the originals back in but my friend ran over them with his 4x4, thinking they were in the scrap pile....
about the column, the metal case that the shifter housing is bolted to, with the turn signal inside...when i put the blinker down, the case moves down a little, when i put it back up the case moves along with it. in turn, its also "moving the gear selection" on the indicator (from N to R, or from N to D1, etc..), even though its not actually shifting gears...if that makes any sense....
im not sure if there is something inside the column that keeps it stationary..or if its the part on the column under the hood that bolts to the transmission shifter linkage..that keeps it stationary
