I'd go with a 650 carb and think that is plenty unless the engine is highly modified.
If you are adept at working a manual choke I'd go with the manual choke version and save a few dollars but you do have to have to be able to work them manually. The electric choke on mine works pretty good most of the time though.
If your intake is a square flange intake you can bolt the Edelbrock carb right on and go if it is a spread bore intake you will need the steel shim adapter plate that Edelbrock sells. Don't waste you money on one of the one inch or so spacer plate adapters with the tapered holes. I've got one of those hanging on a nail in the garage where it will probably stay until I throw it in a swap meet box on of these days during a major cleanout.
