When I had mine done the gasket was new & was so 'fat' that putting the lockstrip in after was the only way it would fit.

The fellow said that once the truck sits in the sun for a few months, the gasket will conform better to the truck so removing the windshield will not be as hard to put back in again with that gasket (in case of a repaint).

So I guess it depends too on whether your gasket is new.
