Wes, I am pretty sure the 69-70, and the 71-72 bottom parts are the same. I bought a used replacement a while back, and the upper filler necks are different, so I ended up going with my 70 filler neck/cap setup, and using the 71-72 lower tube assy. My original 70 had three little mounts welded to it, and the 71-72 has the round inner screw mounting points where it mounts to the inner bedside. I may be wrong, but hope this helps.
