If I remember correctly on a th350, drop the pan, drive the pin out that holds the shift rod to the detent plate and slide the shaft out twoards the outside. Remove the old seal and drive the new one in with a appropriate sized socket. I also think there is a o-ring on the shaft, replace it also. All in all a easy job, good luck.
