If you've read up on Dr. Lee Swagger, you've got the right idea.

1/2 ton Suburbans would have come stock with a C code motor.

K&N's are OK as long as you don't drive down dusty roads. They don't tend to filter out the dust as well as a paper element filter.

Bypass that glow plug controller with a push button before it causes you grief. But make sure you select the right glow plugs that can handle extended glow plug times. I'm using AC Delco 60G but there might be something preferable right now.
