When I lived in Las Vegas I had a 69 C10 with a 454 in it. The only way I could keep it cool was to run a 205 thermostat. It worked for me there and since I've moved back to Iowa I still run 205 stats,, heater will run you out in the winter. I'd rather have to open a window or turn the heat down than not have heat.
I have never run anything less than a 190 stat in chevy v8's.
