If you have the option to get them blasted go for it. They will turn out much nicer. Just be sure to thoroughly clean all the media off before you paint. The light scratches are nothing to worry about unless you want the wheel polished, but since you are painting its no biggie. Painting them isn't that hard either just make sure you are patient. My rims went from this
to this with a lot of WD-40, and elbow grease
but when I wanted them painted I just blasted them since it was so much easier, and it left a better profile to paint on.
