Stainless steel tubing for brake and fuel lines is not that expensive. I bought 20' of 3/8ths fuel line for $80 and it was a straight length of tubing. I already had a flare tool and tubing cutter. The cheap little tubing benders they have at AutoZone (my not be in your area) will work but if you want a real nice job buy a good bender (Grainger has them), it will make you life much easier. Buy some mild steel brake line to practice on and don't forget to put the tubing nuts on the brake line before you make the flare...it will make you mad if you forget.
