On a regular cab I removed several by leaving on the doors and keeping them closed. I then used a 4x6 treated post from Lowes. On each end I drilled for eyelets to connect a chain so when it comes up the drip rail was not damaged. As it raises up against the door I added padding just to ensure the doors did not get damaged.
I also used a hoist that will spin so in case I need to turn the cab to load on a trailer.
