NV4500 and a divorced t-case....?

I am finding lots of 2wd version NV4500's but not much luck on the 4wd. I have passed up 2wd versions for under $800.

On the other hand, I just found a rebuilt NP-205, but its divorced. At $200 I think it's a good deal. Can you see where I'm going here?

I'm starting with a bare frame and I'm not afraid to make a custom x-member for the 205.

My brief research says the benefits are:

1) Being able to run any trans (with a short driveshaft of course) with the t-case.
2) Keeps the front and rear driveshafts the same lenght/geometry.
3) Driveshafts are interchangable in an emergency

The coupling driveshaft can be kept to 3-5 inches, but since I'm moving my engine forward anyway (I am using serpentine setup/electric fans), I dont see that as an issue.

Anybody considered this or know of someone who did it?

Feedback is always appreciated.

Mike
