I will be using either a 87 305 with a carb, or a 88 305 TBI both from Camaro's. Trying to keep this budget friendly as this is technically my parts truck(thats what the wife thinks). Just looking to build a driver as a backup truck.
1.) The first being the Fly wheel. Do I use one from the year of the engine, or the year of the trans or just after market? any suggestions? Crank bolt pattern different?

You will need a 14" (168 tooth)flywheel for a '86 and up small block with a one piece rear main seal , that will accomodate the clutch you intend to use.

You can use the same motor mounts and brackets that are currently in your truck. Unless it had a 292 I6

I will see if the stock camaro exhaust manifolds will work, if not I will use headers.

Yes you can use the original bellhousing and starter. I doubt the Camaro exhaust manifolds will work with the manual trans. You can use either the original rams hors manifolds or a set of headers. If you go with the EFI you will need to accomodate an O2 sensor in the exhaust as colse as possible to the head. I would think that the '88 Camaro 305 would have a TPI, instead of a TBI?

Use a clutch that is for your year of truck with a SM420. That will be a common 11" clutch with a 10 spline hub.

If you do go with the EFI you will also need to supply a VSS (vehicle speed sensor) signal to the ECM for proper operation of the engine. This can be added onto your speedo connection on the SM420. If I had a choce and both engines being the same condition, I would go with the EFI.
