I used to haul my '72 Harley Davidson XLH Sportster in the back of my '66 GMC 1/2 Ton Short Bed Stepside. It fit in there perfectly. I would put the Front Wheel right in the L/F corner of the bed and position the bike so the Rear Wheel would end up R/R corner. I would then tie a rope (would probably use a strap now) from the Frame to a stake post in the L/F corner. It pretty much was "wedge in there". I believe I also would lock the steering to keep it more stable and in position. Although I drove extra carefully, it rode just fine. On a longer haul, I might have tied an extra rope around the back wheel to the R/R stake post.
