Was your previous without gauges? Just had dummy lights speedometer and gas gauge?

What does your replacement gauge set have? I know putting a tach dash in you have to switch some wires out at the plug.

How does the circuit look on the back of the cluster? Could be some damage to it.

You can do this to test to see if the gauge works at all. Pull the power wire off at the tank, gauge should go to the 3 o'clock position. Ground it to the tank and the gauge should read full. That's if you get power thru that wire. So you might want to check that also. That should give you a head start. There are a few other threads on this from recent that might give you some help.
