I think the bottoms up lift looks good, and that is the way I am leaning toward building one. Does anyone know the approx. weight of a Suburban body stripped? This will make a difference in what material I use. The only real problem I am having is deciding how high to mount my pivot point. I want to make the upright solid and not adjustable, and have the place where it mounts to the body adjustable. I came up with 48 inches high, but I would hate to build the thing and not have enough clearance to rotate the truck. I know an adjustable upright would solve the problem, but I think the thing would be a lot more solid with a fixed upright. I am leaning towards building the actual stand out of 3x3 box 3/16 thick. the pipe up top that holds the spinning mechanism will be 2 1/2 inch pipe 3/16 thick. The part that spins and attaches to the body will be 2 1/2 inch box 3/16 thick. I think this will be heavy enough, what do any of you think?
