Edelbrock does have an accelerator pump that will go away if you soak in jet fuel. It is easily replaced though. Edelbrock carbs are easy to work on and you can replace the pump without taking the carb off the engine.

If the butterflies are sticking someone may have taken them out before. I'd losen the screws on them and close them gently. While they are closed, tighten the screws again and see if they still stick.

IF you do soak in kerosene it will also swell gaskets and may cause other problems too....

If it were me, I'd disassemble and rebuild the carb. The kits are under $25 and it will prevent future issues.
