It happens to me more than I like to admit. Thank god for witness marks and photos and other members trucks. I believe that the manifold that the heat riser goes to will be machined flat all the way across and if my memory (not very good) is correct, there is even a flat gasket that goes between the manifold and the heat riser. I also believe that all of the chock tubes ran through the passenger side manifold because that is the side the chock is on the carb.

And yes, it does depend on application if the heat riser is mounted on the driver or passenger side.
