Yes they can be taken appart and checked out. It's pretty back yard stuff. I took three sets appart, matched them up, added a #2 and 3 springs. Rides a little too stiff and I plan on removing the extra #3 spring to soften up the ride. The problem with mine was that the springs were mush and the truck would lean to one side. When you say #2 and 3 springs, do you start counting from the bottom or the top? Thanks.
