Keep a piece of metal to slide under. It just makes sense. I am 100% positive that will take the abuse and protect your floor. I'm sure epoxy can't handle hot slag. I have the same piece of carpet I've rolled out for mechanical work for over 20 years. I've taken a lot of naps on there,too,when I ran into a dead end
