The air gets pulled in from the other side, thus through the radiator.
Not sure about the comment on air flow being restricted due to the webbing on the backside of the fan.
Don't see how that'd matter.
Since your fans aren't attempting to cool your engine, it'll probably be fine to cool the radiator (even that close to the engine).
