There is nothing better while towing then "TORQUE" the more the better. People get all wrapped up on dyno numbers about "Peak Horsepower" when its a nice smooth torque curve that makes an engine feel strong.
Go with the 383 , might want to re look at the stock style TBI, not sure it will feed a healthy 383 without some modifications.
