I believe the 72's command more $$ because they are a one year off option and supply is limited. Some guys do prefer the more balanced look of the 69-72 hooks: I have a set of 69-72 on my K10 now for that reason but will put the 72 only style on my K20 resto.

Here are some comparison pics I saved that were posted by a board member in a thread I wasn't able to find on a quick search so can't give credit where do.
