Mainly for aesthetics and to clean things up. A great addition when you have added unique touches under the hood.

Not sure on that one PD.

I know safety comes first. Either placing a weld bead line around the ends to create a radius around the tubing, or whatever, make sure the hose doesn't have a blow out when under pressure.
