Ever wondered if there are really any good inexpensive options to get good sound in these trucks
without cutting the dash??
I have installed a great sounding system for less than $170 and it looks mostly original.
First, I tossed the old Supertuner tape deck that had long since quit functioning.
I got an old original a/m unit (I know, not exactly original) from member zicc1835. It is installed in the factory location.
Picked up this from Crutchfield for $50
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_158XDPM...nd-System.html It's installled under the seat - the iPod cradle sits on the dash.
S/M Electro-Tech has an excellent line of classic auto audio components. I'm using a high output dual speaker setup that mounts in the center dash speaker location!
Chuck (thelonerife) was kind enough to
give me an original speaker bracket.
Electronics and whatnot is not really my thing, but I do like to have my tunes nearby. So, we have a non-functioning factory head unit for looks; and a modern, good sounding, digital music player. I am satisfied!!!
I would definitely recommend the guys at Electro-Tech

and also the Sony Digital Link Sound System.
I took several photos, but none of them truly convey the quality of sound now heard in the cab of this pickup.
