I have a 3" dropped axle from Sid's on my 1949 chevy 3100. That was the lowest I could go & not have the bottom of the axle hit the road if a tire came off the rim. I also had to mount the tie rod under the steering arms so it would clear the springs. Now it looks & handles much better. Good luck
