That sucks! If it makes you feel better, I think everyone involved in this hobby has a story like that. 10 years ago I bought a 454 out out of a tow truck that I heard run with my own ears. He pulled it and 2 days later I came back to grab it. Looked the same, and I had no reason to believe he had switched it or anything shifty had gone on. Smash cut to 4 months later I'm throwing it in my truck and we fill the radiator full of water and...... it comes running out of the oil pan. Yea. Nice. Huge crack in the block. Never could track the guy down again.
