I'm 42 (in 3 days) and plates staying with the car is all I've ever known here in Texas. I hear some states register the plates to the owner & 1 plate can be used on multiple vehicles as a result. Own 4 cars? Only need 1 set of plates if only 1 is going to be driven at a time.
