Sounds like you have 73-87 inner tie rods.
They are bigger.
If everthing worked before you ordered new parts,... sounds like your new parts are incorrect.
Outer tie rods should be RH thread.
Inner tie rods should be LH thread.
(71-72 and 73-87 tie rods are both 11/16" diameter on the connector end)
