Just throwing out ideas. I have had a noise before similar that came from a belt with a small chunk out of it.
I had a fan blade ticking on a shroud. Also my son does not run dust covers at the flywheel because he said he has had a noise coming from it.
I have a ticking noise coming from the engine in one of my vehicles and it is a small exhaust gasket leak.
