Re: Father/son builds: Here's a great Easter present for your kid
There's nothing like an old truck for a father son project. When my oldest son turned 15. we found a worn out old 71 GMC, put it in the back yard and let him take it down to the last nut and bolt, with hand tools. (Then I showed him what an air impact gun was for.)
After that, he spent the summer sandblasting and painting the frame, cleaning up parts, helping me put things back together, weld in patch panels, and rebuild the engine.
This inspired him to the extent that he went on to college and became a mechanical engineer. He will be the first to tell you that he learned more by working on that old truck, than 4 years of college.
