In the screenshot above, look specifically at the front leading edge of the middle and bottom pictures. The 69-72 Chevy fenders have an extra recessed area that is required for the 69-72 Chevy grille surround.
From what I understand the 67-68 Chevy trucks were designed by a guy that used to work for Mattel. (Hot Wheels) In 69, the GM designers felt their trucks were too sleek and se*y looking .. so they wanted to make them more blocky like the other competition. Make them look stronger and more farm worthy. That's why the 69+ Chevy trucks have the more up-right hood, aka what we now know as the slant nose trucks went away.
Tim (respectfully asking) .. you posted the following:
".. 69-72 GMC fenders are the same as 68 Chevy"
I thought the 68 GMC fenders would be the same too. Marker light hole, etc. Are they a one year specific deal? Something unique to a slant nose GMC only in 68 ?
I just mentioned the fender badge holes because when I find them laying around that's an easy way (for me) to spot them quickly. If you see a stack of them you can pull one from the other without having to sort through or move them. (Yes, I have been to Junkyard John's house
