Can I simply remove both ends of it (see mystery hose 2 thread for second picture) and plug the holes with appropriate bolts? The smog pump was pulled from this truck and the A/C did not work, so who knows why it may be there...but I don't see it on anyone else's trucks.

Yikes, how bad is this? Someone explain to me further why it may be there...what was the benefit?
