This is my 79 lowered 4.5 in the front and 6 in the back before I dropped it another 3 inches in the back. As long as you are running your stock leafs in the back you should not need to notch it. In this picture there is still a few inches of travel before the frame would hit. Some good bump stops and you should be OK.
