This is ironic, really. I tried to help you and now I'm in a similar fix. I just bought a 66 parts truck. Engine looks original, but nope. I have the little book from the dealer with the engine number stamped onto the protect-o-plate (a little metal card) that came with the truck. The card says the engine serial # is F0124TF.
You can see my photo of the engine serial# stamp says F1112TP1 or maybe F1112TP7. I'm stumped. I can't figure what it's from. Could be from a Nova or maybe a later model truck. We shall see. Mystery.
So it's not the original engine. I had suspicions because the crank pulley is a double groove and the truck doesn't have any PS setup.
The good news is that this motor might actually turn out to be OK for me to use. That'd be a bonus for me since my original 230 has bad compression numbers.
EDIT: OK I just figured out that the last 3 are all letters - F1112TPT. According to the LMC catalog, my engine is a 250ci from a 71 or 72 truck. That's cool. I can live with that.
