Back in the mid 80's ,I had a 72 c-10 long bed. It had a lame 307 and a tired 3 on the tree. I put in a 327 with a muncie 4 speed. What a change!!!! Headers,cam and the q-jet with a few other goodies.
It would eat the new (then) style camaros in 3rd gear!! It really liked to cruise at 90mph on interstates,with plenty more to go when asked
It had a low hump and I used the old cast iron bell housing. I bolted the tranny to the bell housing first and then installed it to the motor. I think two bolts had to be put in through the inside of the bell hsg and nutted on the outside of the muncie flanges. It had the large clutch 11" and a high shifter that went over the bench seat. The seat had to be set all the way back or 2nd and 4th would clash or pop out of gear!! It was a sleeper Fred Sanford cruiser!!Well thats my story and 2¢
