Very few have them, the hood of the 60 61 although some say ugly.. I love em.
Torsion front end.. So many swop out for coils, generally to get a cheap disc set up.. simple and commonly cheap.. Yet GM did not get away from torsion because coils were better I believe it was for cost.. Torsion is a different ride then coil.. I drop spindled to covert to disc, I like torsion..
So many nifty mods and if you are handy they are easily done in your garage for a decent price in most cases.. Alot of the updating I have done on my 60 came from the 67-72 era trucks.. 12 bolt rear, tilt steering column, powersteering box.. etc..
Problem area's are the typical.. Floors and braces.. crawl under it..bottom of the doors.. Hinge pillar is another nasty spot.. Of course roof/corners etc.. Just really look it over.. Front Glass.. Not cheap..
Draw back.. body parts at times are difficult to come by depending on your location and aftermarket parts well metal wise I cant stand them.
I also love the 6's as you stated in your post..generally the 292 with a 194 head to bring compression up a wee bit.. 7 main bearing engine.. tough.. anyhow Not many run them over the small blocks.. inline 6 or BBC for me.. I tend to build the inlines up just a tad, upsets the small blocks when they get beat light to light by a 6 cyl..
Anyhow, personal advice would be never rush.. if you feel pressured by the other party take even more time.. If you feel pressured by time, do not.. take your time, spend the time as right now that is all you have to lose.. if you do not take your time you might lose a bit more.

My truck is pretty beat, but I still love it. And I love the early 60-63 trucks with the knee knockers. And I hate when people say that hood is ugly, its what sets the truck apart from the regular hoods! I am trying to take my time but I just wanna go check it out. Now I know what to look for if I do.. But after all the vehicles ive had I know to take some time looking over them.
