You can also remove the trans and motor together. You would just pull the driveshaft, trans crossmember (5 bolts) trans dipstick tube(1 bolt) shift linkage (1 bolt) trans cooler lines and kick down cable at carb. If you are using a lifting plate bolted onto the intake you lift ftom the rear hole. If using a chain position it toward the rear of motor. Then you just lift motor and trans out together install the same way.
Either way you do it you will need to have the truck up on jackstands. Just high enough that the cherry picker ( hoist) legs will roll under the truck lower control arms. It also helps to remove the front tires. Don't raise the truck so high that you can't lift the motor over the core support.
You will need the hoist arm extended as far as possible.
If you have a crane lifting device then this won't apply.
