I would suggest spindles for 2.5-3" drop. I recently put a set of 3" spindles on my 84 sb. The ride quality is about the same and it wasn't real involved to do. I did have to swap out the 8" ralleys that had 255/70/15 tires to a set of 6.5" ralley with 225/60/15 tires.

I got a total of about 4" drop with the spindles and tires, I am kicking around putting taller tires back on the front. In the few weeks I have been driving it, I have smacked the front sway bar on a driveway and a parking lot curb.
