I would be a good idea but, if its been sitting quite a while with ethanol gas in the carb. I would go for the rebuild. Ethanol added fuel (gas) is corrosive. Plastic and rubber items seem to distort and weaken over a period of time. I run non-ethanol as much as I can. Usually, rotate one tank of ethanol free 89 octane and then one tank of 10% ethanol 89 octane - Shell or BP brand. Every 3K oil change, I dump a can of sea foam in the tank with the next fill-up. Works for me...

Wish you were closer, Q-Jet carb rebuild (R&R) would take 2 hrs of labor and a rebuild kit for $25.00.
