yes, it's an '85, but i did the same thing on my '71 jimmy. dont like the factory j hooks & not alot of room on the frame horns. you might not like it as it involves drilling. i mounted a 5x3 5/16" thick piece of angle between the frame rails & mounted super duty hooks (boss has 9 s.d's,easy access!). there was enuff room left on it to also mount a box receiver on it as well. all told, i got maybe $20 in it
