We have 20" wheels on our new-to-us car, and we've had to replace two perfectly good tires because the sidewalls developed problems. The first was kind of my fault - I kissed a curb - but I've rubbed harder against curbs with other tires and never had a problem. The other just developed a bubble; the tire shop speculated we'd hit a pothole too hard.
The short sidewalls have no give, and are way more delicate than on a taller tire. I don't know if truck tires are sturdier than car; but I'd ask about this issue before going ahead.
