Oregon is beautiful. Yes. In fact America is beautiful.
However, trucks aren't cheaper.
Yes the cascades produce a rain shadow just like the Sierra Nevada do. 4/5 of the population is west of the cascades and mostly along the I-5 corridor which is where most of the trucks are located...these days.
It's just my experience that trucks are not less expensive on average. 2 cents.
