If you don't want to pay to update to HEI distributor which is expensive unless you know someone who has an extra one laying around. You could upgrade to a Pertronix setup. It sits in the points distributor, and changes the upper portion of the distributor to electronic ignition. I did that on a old Pontiac Catalina I used to have.
