You can go lesser amounts but 3" is about the max. Anything beyond that and the hangers start to travel off the top of the frame rail.



Moving the bottom bolt of the rear hanger into the top bolt of the rail results in 3". I also run the shackle eye bolt through the rail, using a spacer, ending up with 3 attachments (two grade 8 bolts plus the shackle bolt).

Keith, would there be any weakening in the hanger if you trimmed off a couple of inches from the top to get a full 4in drop? Im thinking it would be fine.
