Well yesterday night and this afternoon i got going on welding up the holes on my almost perfect 67/68 chevy hood i got with the pickup, took all the letters off and i'm going to stain a piece of oak to put them on and hang them up somewhere. Then sanded off the paint and welded up the holes. Then just used a angled die grinder with a 36 grit disc. After that a file and a hammer to smooth it out. Then used some filler primer, and a sanding block to smooth it out. Have a look!
