I've found posts online of people cutting off the original crimp sleeve and replaced the line with oil cooler hose + worm gear clamps.

Anyone here done it?

I'm thinking of trying but worried about the worm gear clamp + hose coming off. With the OEM sleeve the sleeve itself is attached to the hard line and cannot be pulled off. So the hose is being held by the tubing barbs and the outer sleeve.
That's what I usually do. They crimp tighter over a longer period of Time. And easy to take off again and put back on. I do this with all the hoses on my vehicles. Any leaks go away.
