I know moms Trailblazer spits if you don't hold the nozzle down. With the nozzle down and in the gas shuts off sooner. Or try slow filling. My gas gauge is a tap on the tank. That plastic cover kills me. My diesel doesn't have trap door, open like old school, so that's not helping your issue.
